With the help of the I/O Expansion Board, you can add additional inputs and outputs to your older LokSound V4.0 or LokPilot V4.0 decoders you have installed into your locos. Then it will provide the same lighting outputs that are available on the new LokSound 5, LokPilot 5 decoders you may have installed in your locos.
The I/O Expansion Board will provide you with 12 function outputs to operate all the lighting in your loco. The 21 pin decoder will provide the Front Light, Rear Light, AUX1 and AUX2 outputs, while the expansion board will provide AUX3 to AUX10.
The I/O Expansion Board comprises:
- An additional 8 Function outputs (AUX3 to AUX10)
- Each function output with a maximum output of 250mA
4 Servo outputs, including the 5V supply
Connections for an ESU smoke unit (6 pin connection)
2 Sensor inputs

SUSI Interface
All the required power supplies are generated by the Expansion Board, which is the same size as a LokSound V4.0 decoder (30 mm x 15.5 mm) and “piggybacks” with 21MTC interface decoder.
If the loco is equipped with a 21MTC interface connector, plug the unit directly into the locomotive. Ensure there is adequate space. If there is insufficient clearance or the loco does not have the 21MTC interface, then the module can be hard-wired directly into the loco and used to replace the existing main electrical board (PCB) in the loco.
