Standard Series Resistors 5.6k Ohm For LEDs (10 Pack)

DCCS Standard Series Resistors (10 Pack)

The Standard Series Resistors usually come with ¼ W or ½ W ratings.

This 5.6k resistor has a power rating of 500mW (½ Watt)

With this size rating, it allows you to connect multiple LEDs to this singe resistor.

If you plan to use LEDs, then a resistor must be wired in series with the LEDs. It should at least have a rating between 470 Ohms for very bright light and 2.2 k Ohms for a more dimmed light.

You can experiment with larger resisters values 2.7k to 10k Ohms to further reduce the brightness of the LED in your model.

Operating the LEDs without a resistor will lead to their immediate destruction! In some cases, it may even damage the function output of your DCC decoder.

Unlike light bulbs, LEDs are polarity sensitive. The negative (cathode) end of the LED is connected to a resistor in series to the function output of your DCC decoder, the positive (anode) end is connected to the blue function common wire on your DCC decoder.

Grab a pack and add it to your DCC installation tool box.
