28th October 2022 - ESU Sound Decoder Supply Issue

Well, after placing orders with ESU as far back as March 2022, finally some but not all the decoders are on their way.

Several back orders of sound decoders in the 21-pin and micro version have been processed and shipped.

Supply issues have been a problem since late in 2021 and has continued throughout all of 2022.

Unfortunately, there is still no supply or word from ESU when the 8-pin sound version will be available, so the wait continues.

But for now, DCC Solutions can finally resume work on sound installs and do what it does best...high quality sound installations.

14th August 2022 - NOW AVAILABLE – The New Range Of DCC Solutions Dynamic Speakers

The new range of DCC Solutions High Performance Dynamic Speakers are now available and have been added to the Online Store.

The current range can be found here at the DCCS SPEAKER RANGE page

18th July 2022 - ESU Sound Decoder Supply Issue

Unfortunately, due to a worldwide shortage of electronic components, ESU are still unable to supply sound decoders.

This has been a problem since late in 2021 and has continued throughout 2022.

We have received no word from ESU as to when supply will become available, or even a hint as to what is actually happening, so it seems we have to just sit back and wait patiently until this problem is resolved.

1st July 2022 - NEW RANGE OF DCC SOLUTIONS DYNAMIC SPEAKERS

DCC Solutions began producing its own range of High Performance Dynamic Speakers with enclosures way back in 2013 commencing with the "Thunder" and "Grande" which both became big sellers and have continued to do so over the years.

It later released the "Typhoon" and "Micro 8" in the same year.

In 2016, it released the "Micro 6" and "Nano 8" designed for N scale models with two types of enclosures – square and half round for steam boilers. The Nano 8 was also suitable for tight spaces in HO scale models or the option of a second speaker in a steam boiler.

So, in 2022, DCC Solutions began designing and testing a new range of Dynamic speaker sound enclosures and is pleased to announce they are available now and will be added to our online store with all their information soon.

They will include:

"Thunder" range: Thunder Slim, Thunder (original), Thunder Twin Short, Thunder Twin Long, Thunder Twin Auscision, and Thunder ARM C38

"Grande" range: Grande Slim, Grande (original), Grande Twin Short and Grande Twin Long, Grande Twin Auscision

"Hurricane" range with more bass response: Hurricane, Hurricane Twin Short, Hurricane Twin Long and Hurricane Twin Auscision

"Tornado" range with bigger bass response: Tornado, Tornado Twin Short and Tornado Twin Long

"Fury" range with more bass response: Fury, Fury Twin Short, Fury Twin Long

"Twister" range with bigger bass response and more volume: Twister, Twister Twin Short, Twister Twin Long, Twister Twin Auscision

"Nano" range: Will include more enclosure variations added to the existing two currently available.

"Custom" range: Speakers with custom enclosures to suit various Australian release models, making installing a speaker simple.

26th April 2022 - Epping Model Railway Exhibition

DCC Solutions will be attending the annual Epping Model Railway Exhibition on the Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th of May at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse - James Ruse Drive, Rosehill

We will be located on Stand No.38 between Model Railroad Craftsman and On Track Models

Come down and see us to discuss your DCC requirements and purchase items for your own installations.

Feel free to bring your locomotives in for free evaluation to install DCC and possibly sound.

Looking forward to seeing you at this fantastic exhibition.

1st February 2022 - Phoenix Reproductions D3 Sound Issues

It has come to our attention that the new release model of the Phoenix Reproductions D3 has issues with the sound.

A number of customers have reported to us of poor or distorted sound quality and the sound lacks volume.

After carry out our own investigation, we have discovered a problem with the speaker design arrangement in the model which results in poor and distorted sound. After making changes to the design, we have improved the factory sound.

As for increasing the sound volume, well sorry to disappoint you, the master volume is already factory set to maximum as well as a number of other individual sounds.

There is a programming bug in factory sound project that may cause the model to either lock up then produce an error buzzing sound, or lock up and cause the model to drive away at full speed while turning on all the lights or simply become uncontrollable using the DCC throttle.

So if you want to improve the sound, get more volume and loads of extra features on the D3 Class model, then we suggest taking a look at our own bug free VIC D3 Custom Built Sound Project and have it loaded into your existing sound equipped model

18th January 2022 - TCS - Train Control Systems Price Rise

Train Control Systems will be raising the price on most products* by 20%** on 21st January 2022.

Due to the ongoing, unprecedented changes in the world, TCS has been forced to introduce our largest price increase to date.

Some of the factors which have forced us into this decision include:

  • Double standard inflation at around 6% for 2021

  • COVID shutdowns and shortages across industries

  • Massive, global, completely unprecedented electronic component shortages

  • Ongoing shipping and manufacturing delays

Due to the factors above, every piece of TCS' products from packaging and literature, to printed circuit boards and components have gone up in price and lead times have been extended beyond anything seen before.

Over the past year and a half TCS has eaten these price increases and made numerous internal changes to avoid a price increase, but with no sign of things changing TCS must take this step. Some of the steps we have taken internally to reduce this need include:

  • Designing multiple circuit boards for certain products, so we can use more available packages and versions of the components.

  • Expanded our remote and contract work to reduce overhead.

  • Scooped up extra stocks of components from liquidators to mitigate massive lead times on components.

We will continue to take steps internally and externally to provide the highest quality, American made product, just like we always have. Even as we all deal with the ongoing challenges of the day, we appreciate the ongoing support of our loyal customers and enthusiastic users!

*The price for all UWT-100 variants, replacement parts, and services will remain unchanged

**UWT-50 variants, Decoder Testers, and Kapton Tape will only be increasing by 10%

Freedom Day for NSW Brings A Website Upgrade

Today is "Freedom Day" for the people of NSW. Finally, after 15 weeks of lockdown, life can finally start to resume in some way and DCC Solutions can return.

And for those who have been visiting our website over the past few months have probably noticed something strange has been going on as the website hasn't been working properly and the Online Store disappeared.

Well, the DCC Solutions website was transferred to a new server and migrated to a new working platform. Unfortunately, the migration process took a lot longer than expected just to get it up and running, as there were several technical issues causing problems, keeping the migration team very busy.

Today I was notified the website is back online, and I have been given my access back to be able to work on it, as I was locked out during the migration process.

Scrolling over it, there are still issues in a number of areas, so work will commence today on upgrading the website to a "new look" and fixing any issues.

During this time, some areas of the website may not be available and some information maybe missing.

We apologise for the inconvenience while the upgrade happens and hope to have our "new look" website up and running as soon as possible.

Supply Problems Due to Covid-19

Since Covid-19 hit the world back in early 2020,challenges we've all not experienced previously have just kept coming and coming and coming.

Receiving products required for DCC installations has been challenging and while there has been delays, we have been able to eventually receive some shipments.

The delays were originally due to the timeframe international shipments were arriving into Australia, which still exists, but more recently the unavailability of products due to the low supply of raw materials and manufacturing delays of the products.

There is a worldwide shortage of microcontrollers right now. You may have seen this is affecting everything from vehicle manufacturers to DCC manufacturers and more.

Orders placed over a year ago for electronic components to manufacture DCC decoders are being delayed and even cancelled with no warnings.

ESU is heavily effected by this, and it's now showing with the difficulty it is to get our hands on a number of their decoders.

Soundtraxx has just informed us there will be a 66-week lead time for some of their decoders. That's more than a year without these decoders.

If you're after some Kadee Couplers, well they report their behind more than 4 months with their supply.

While all our Model Railway Australian manufacturers are reporting delays in production of their projects.

So where do we go from here, well all we can do is to be patient and go with the flow as what ever you have been waiting for will eventually happen.

Supply Issues From Our Suppliers

A number of our suppliers are currently struggling to supply products around the world. Lack of raw materials and delays in manufacturing thanks to Covid-19 issues.

ESU is one who has a number of decoders currently unavailable, and these items have been placed on back order.

As a result, this will have effect on completion timeframes for installations.

We wait to find out more info!

Australian Railway Models Released NSW C38 Steam Locomotive

Back in November 2020, ARM released their first model of the NSW C38 Steam Locomotive. Priced at $299.00 it is a basic model of the C38 and comes without a working LED headlight. This should have at least been a standard inclusion with a model released in 2020.

DCC Solutions has now added this model to its long list of available installations, and it includes our very own Custom Built 38 Class Sound Project to suit this model.

We have also added an upgrade to the model by installing a working LED headlight as an option during the DCC Sound installation.

Online Store Products back in stock along with some new products

The popular Tender/Carriage Bogie Pickups are back!

The Universal Tender Bogie Pickups were designed for adding extra rail pickups to bogie wheel sets for HO locomotive tenders that traditionally have one set of bogies collecting track power on the right rail and the other bogie collecting track power on the left rail via the axles.

However, they are universal and can be fitted to most bogies without any modification to the bogies as they are thin with perfect resilience that can be bent or cut to suit for either axle or wheel pickup. They are not restricted to tenders; also add them to passenger’s carriages when installing interior lighting. With the use of the modeller's imagination, the Universal Tender Bogie Pickups can be used in many applications.

Want to add some lights to your locos or rolling stock?

Add some tiny Nano LEDs.

Some sizes and colours are back in stock and now sold in a 2 pack, rather than individually, at a reduced price saving you $$$

Some new products have been added to our online store that will help those DIY installers find what they can use on their own installations

The hard work continues on converting our Custom Sound Projects to suit the LokSound 5 Sound decoders.

So far the following are now completed

As a result of concentrating our time on sound project conversions, delays are occurring with installations. We have extended our work hours and trying our hardest to complete them as soon as time permits.

The "NEW" ESU LokSound 5 Sound Decoders Finally Arrive, but.........

Well, our first shipment of these new decoders finally arrived a couple of weeks ago, after a 5-month delay, and only 2 versions were delivered.

The LokSound 5 DCC in both the 8 pin plug and 21 pin versions have been released with no indication on when the LokSound 5 DCC Micro decoder will be released. The means the Austrains 30 Class and the IDR Models X200 and 70 Class will sit on the shelf collecting even more dust.

Meanwhile, the unexpected hard work to convert our LokSound V4.0 Custom Sound Project to suit the LokSound 5 continues at a very slow pace.

While a single sound project only takes less than 30 seconds to automatically covert on the computer, discovering all that doesn't covert correctly and fails to work is a real nightmare. So 30 seconds of joy results in up to 30 hours of work to locate and fix the problems, make the upgrade changes and a conduct full testing of the sound project in a running model. It scares me to think if one single sound project is taking up to 30 hours to complete then times that by over 70 Custom Sound Projects in our library, and well, that's a lot of hours!

At this point of time, Sound Projects will be converted in order of demand/popularity.

24th May 2019

Our Next Expo Appearance

DCC Solutions will be attending the annual Epping Model Railway Exhibition on the Saturday 8th, Sunday 9th and Monday 10th of June at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse - James Ruse Drive, Rosehill

20th May 2019

The "NEW" ESU LokSound 5 Sound Decoders Finally Arrive

Finally, our January order of the new LokSound 5 Sound decoders has finally arrived. As you can imagine not having any ESU Sound decoders for almost 5 months has been extremely frustrating not to mention the financial effects it has had on our business, so we can now begin work on sound installations. While all our customers have been very patient waiting please be aware there will still be delays in completing installations.

While we were assured from ESU that conversion of the LokSound V4.0 sound files to the new V5 would be easy....It's Not!

A number of issues have occurred with some sounds or functions not working correctly or even not at all while some sound volumes are very low.

So now the pain-staking work has begun to make changes to our Custom Sound Projects to suit and work with the new LokSound 5 decoders and carry out extensive testing to make sure our sound projects worked the way they did in the previous LokSound V4.0 decoders.

With this additional work involved it only will add further delays to completing installations and sending out decoders for the DIY installer.

A busy time ahead for DCC Solutions, so please understand we are doing our best.

Thank You.

30th April 2019

The "NEW" ESU LokSound 5 Sound Decoders Delays Continue

On the 25th March an email was sent to all ESU dealers and then it was later publicly announced on ESU social media sites.

Greetings Dealers!

FINALLY we have a LokSound 5 shipping update!

It has been confirmed that the last piece of the puzzle for the HO, L and XL LokSound 5s has been shipped and is en route!!!

We will begin to ship these exciting new decoders on April first.

*Please Note: We are waiting on a small component for the LokSound 5 Micros. This is held up with our supplier and we are working very hard to rectify the problem and will ship these as soon as possible.

Also…. We are moving!!!

Due to our constant phenomenal growth over the last few years we have outgrown our facility. As a result, we will be shutting down this week and will open again April 1st at 8am EST in our new office and warehouse.

We will send out an update on Monday April 1st to give an update and shipping schedule on the LokSound 5!

Thank you for all your patience and understanding during our move! We can’t wait to come back and serve you all again next week by beginning to ship the best new decoder on the market!!!

Well we have now reached the end of April and still no sign of the continually promised LokSound 5 decoders and no updated word from ESU as to when they will eventually release them to the retail market.

It has been a very frustrating 4 months here at DCC Solutions as we have had no stock of any LokSound decoders since the beginning of the year still waiting for the delivery of our next order.

6th March 2019

DCC Solutions Custom Sound Projects for the "NEW" ESU LokSound V5 Sound Decoders

While we have had the opportunity to play with the new V5 sound decoder it has allowed us to upgrade a few of our projects to the new format.

So now on our installation page, look out for this graphic below

This will indicate the sound project is available on the new LokSound V5. It's going to be a mammoth task to upgrade all our sound projects, website pages, pricing guides for each model, decoder info and additional info sheets for each model that we provide with all the V5 sound installs and invoicing info regarding the V5 decoders, but all this will happen in time.

4th March 2019

"NEW" ESU LokSound V5 Sound Decoders Delays Continue

Well from an initial week 4, 2019 (Jan 21-27) release date, we are now into week 10, 2019 (March 4-10) when by now, all decoder versions of the new LokSound V5 should have been released. Well it's all quite from ESU and no decoders have become available for retail sales, so the delay continues.

A reliable source has informed me that by mid march we should start to see some decoders but by the time we receive them here in Australia it will be more like the end of March.

4th February 2019

"NEW" ESU LokSound V5 Sound Decoders Not Released Yet

Initial information provide from ESU suggested the release of the new V5 sound decoders would start in week 4, 2019 (Jan 21-27) and continue through to week 10, 2019 (March 4-10) before all versions would be available. We have been informed there is currently a 2-week delay in the start of the release. In the meantime, we have been experimenting with a number of our custom sound projects in our sample decoders by converting them from V4,0 to V5 and adding some new features. The testing and fun continues.

29th January 2019

Testing the "NEW" ESU LokSound V5 Sound Decoders

We have received 2 sample 21 pin ESU LokSound V5 Sound decoders for testing.

At first glance most of the components look the same as the V4.0 but the orientation of them is where you see the difference.

New programming software allows for a simple conversion of our Custom V4.0 Sound Projects to the new V5. It is a basic conversion with some of the setting numbers requiring additional changes but doesn't make full use of the additional features available on the V5 decoder. As a result, we need to once again go through our extensive sound library and upgrade every project to add the new features to our sound projects. On top of that after learning how to use and creating our own custom sound projects for the V4.0 decoders over the last 8 years, we now need to learn how to use the new V5 decoder and start all over again.

So are first, fully LokSound V5 sound project will be for the upcoming release of the Auscision 442 Class. We have taken our original 442 sound project that has been used over the years in the Austrains 442, and modified the drive sound to take advantage of the additional internal features that has been added that the end user will never really know exists. This will be our testing project and once completed we will be able to apply the changes to our other sound projects.

Changes will be made to the braking and how the model reacts to braking. The same will apply to dynamic braking to allow the decoder to control the braking effect and speed of the loco during dynamic braking.

Sounds, sounds and more sounds...we need to change the structure of the way we play a lot of the sounds on the decoder as some areas of the sound structure has really changed. With extra sound slots, more storage capacity, the fact we can play 10 sounds simultaneously and the inclusion of numerous programming CVs this will allow us to create even more prototypical sound projects.

Upgraded motor control with more complex programming is really showing on our Austrains 442 test loco allowing a quieter, smoother and slow speed operation.

Excitement is building here at DCC Solutions because this new LokSound V5 Sound Decoder is packed with new upgrades over its predecessor and is showing signs that we are going to building a more sophisticated sound schedule providing our customers now with even a more realistic authentic sound than ever before thus creating a more like-life operating experience when operating their model trains.

15th January 2019

The "NEW" ESU LokSound V5 Sound Decoders

2019 is a very special year for ESU. Now in their 20th year, they are happy to announce the 5th Generation of these groundbreaking LokSound decoders! The 5th generation of LokSound has been developed from scratch with more features and more memory for sound they will once again set the standard high in the model train industry for sound.

These new decoders will be made available for us here at DCC Solutions during February and will used in all our installations that were received at our workshop during December 2018.

DCC Stall Current - Video

Doing your own DCC installs?

Do you know why and how to measure Stall Current.

Do you know how important is it to measure the Stall Current of your model before installing a DCC decoder?

Especially on older models, it's very important and it will help to select the right decoder to handle the motor in your model.

The Soundtraxx Sales Rep, George, for DCC Solutions has put together a great video explaining all about it.

Here's the link

IDR Models NSWGR 70 Class - DCC with Sound Installations

With the official release of the new NSW 70 Class locomotive from IDR models today we have been able to acquire one for sound testing of our new Caterpillar Prime Mover Sound Project to suit this model. We have been over the electrical setup in the model and have successfully been able to modify the existing boards in the model to separate the headlights, white and red markers for individual control. So now we can offer our popular sound and light packages for the NSW 70 class locomotive from IDR Models.

The model comes with an 8 pin DCC socket for fitting a decoder

As this is one of our new Sound Projects that we were able to do some early testing in a pre-production sample, now that we have a final release model we will be finalising testing, changing and making improvements for our Sound Project and hope to officially have it ready by the end of the week.

We will only be offering sound for the 70 Class using the ESU LokSound V4.0 Decoder with our Custom 70 Class Caterpillar Sound Project.

There is no alternate sound decoder available that has the correct sounds to suit the 70 Class so be aware of this when considering sound.

Auscision Models 48/830 Class Locomotive - DCC with Sound and Light Modifications

DCC and DCC with sound installations are now available for those who purchased the DC only models.

Our custom sound project will operate better than the factory sound as the standard ESU LokSound SELECT sound template used to create the factory sound in our eyes contains some bugs and there a better ways to control the lights that doesn't effect the sound.

Auscision NSW "V-Set" Interurban Electric Train - DCC with Sound

While we started work on a sound project back in April 2017 for the "V-Set", prior to it's release, the project was put on hold while we concentrated on upgrades of our more popular sound projects that were in demand. I resurrected the project a few weeks ago from my saved files and I have started to pick up where I left off to continue work on Custom Sound Project for the NSW "V-Set".

Hopefully, it should take about 2 months to complete and to carry out testing of the sound project in an actual Auscision "V-Set" model.

The DCC Solutions Custom "V-Set" Interurban Electric Train Sound Project should be ready for release around mid to late June 2018.

As we specialise in Light Modifications to many of the models released, the "V-Set" will be no exception. Separate operation of the headlight, makers and ditch lights available on some models can be controlled using individual function buttons on your DCC Throttle will make operation of the model more realistic.

Stay tuned for more updates!

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Wishing all our customers and regular visitors to our site a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

We would like to thank all our customers for allowing us to work on your trains throughout the year and appreciated the business through our online store.

I would also like to thank those for their support and helped me during a very difficult 2017 due to ongoing health issues. It has been a tough, long year but my health has improved and I've been slowly returning back to working on installations again.

Looking forward to 2018, with some new model releases expected and being able to bring them to life with sound and lights.

I will be taking a break during the festive season and DCC Solutions will be closed from 22nd December until 10th January.

Our online store will still be open but allow a little extra time to process your orders.

Update from Soundtraxx

We have received an email from SoundTraxx informing us that the Econami range of decoder will be unavailable effective immediately. No new orders will be processed until further notice. While we are well stocked with ECO-100 decoders at the moment, once they are sold, that's it until new product becomes available.

Below is a copy of the email from Soundtraxx

ECO-100 & ECO-200 Order Holds

All orders for Econami ECO-100 (P.N. 881001 & 882001) & ECO-200 (P.N. 881002 & 882002) Digital Sound Decoders are being put on hold. We are experiencing problems with sourcing parts crucial to the construction of these decoders. This is resulting in an increased manufacturing time for these products.

Until these issue can be solved, we will not be taking any new orders for ECO-100 or ECO-200 Digital Sound Decoders. Orders that have already been made for ECO-100 or ECO-200 decoders will be filled as soon as possible.

Unfortunately, we do not have a time frame to resolve this issue. We appreciate your patience, and an announcement will be made when we have a resolution for this problem.

ESU's new "Full Throttle"

ESU is planning a release of some new features for their ESU LokSound V4.0 and SELECT decoders

Features include a new working brake along with a more prototypical full throttle range independent of the speed of the locomotive.

These features are expected to be released in the coming weeks as there have been some delays in preparing a software update for the decoders.

The decoders will require firmware updates and all our existing Sound Projects will required to be modified and updated to benefit from these new features.

This process is going to take a lot of time so please be patient. We will start with our most popular Sound Projects first and eventually update all our Sound Projects.

Any customers who have had previous installations of the LokSound V4.0 decoders by DCC Solutions will be eligible for a free firmware and Sound Project upgrade. (Conditions Apply)

AUSTRAINS NSW 41 CLASS SOUND PROJECT AND INSTALLATIONS

With the official release of Austrains new 41 Class diesel locomotive today we have been able to acquire one for sound testing of our new Dual Paxman V12 Sound Project to suit this model. We have been over the electrical setup in the model and have successfully been able to modify the existing boards in the model to separate the headlights, white and red markers for individual control. So now we can offer our popular sound and light packages for the NSW 41 class locomotive from Austrains.

The model comes with an 8 pin DCC socket for fitting a decoder and a factory speaker for which we will be testing to see if it is worthy to work well and complement our Sound Project.

As this is one of our new Sound Projects and now finally have a model we will be testing, changing and making improvements for our Sound Project and hope to officially have it ready by the end of the week.

We will only be offering sound for the 41 Class using the ESU LokSound V4.0 Decoder with our Custom Dual Paxman V12 Sound Project.

There is no alternate sound decoder available that has the correct sounds to suit the 41 Class so be aware of this when considering sound.

AUSCISION XPT PASSENGER TRAIN SOUND PROJECT

Well after several months of hard work involving sound editing, programming and endless layout test running making changes and improvements, our vision and ideas for creating a Sound Project for the XPT with 2 sounding Power Cars has finally been achieved.

With the release of an Australian first, Auscision produced a 7 Car XPT Passenger Train Set which included 2 Power Cars. The challenge for us was to produce a Sound Project for both Power Cars that didn't resemble an echo of sounds coming from the trailing power car that the leading power car was playing and make both play sounds differently and a different times but can be controlled from the same throttle buttons.

Let's face it, you don't want to hear the sound of the horn at both ends or a compressor sounding at exactly the same time from both power cars.

Even allowing the operator to select the trailing car to coast and provide power when needed to the full sounding leading car.

With three possible start up sequences your loco will choose one then if shut down and left on a powered track then next time you start up it will remember how it shut down and play the correct start up sequence to match.

Automatic selection of hot and cold engine start ups. First start is cold including pre-priming and more motor starting sounds. Shut it down, leave it on a powered track and every start now will be a hot start.

Either Dual Power Car Start up or start each Power Car individually and run as one

Move off brake release sounds and stopping brake squeal with additional sounds that are randomly selected depending how the XPT has been running.

We have created a feature packed sound project which doesn't play the same sounds respectively at the same time.

Your XPT will sound different each time you run it, to provide more realism than hearing the same sounding loco all the time.

It also includes the optional light modification for individual light control of all the lights, including Headlights (High/Low Beam), Marker Lights, Ditch Lights and Strobe Lights that operate with the country horn.

The Sound Project is now available.

To find out even more information about it, go to the .......

We have received our Auscision 4620 and it looks fantastic. There will be some issues when you want to open it up as it may present a challenge with the risk of damaging the bogies. The body is suppose to simply unclip from the chassis by pulling it away from the die cast chassis and lifting it off. The problem is there is no part of the die cast chassis to hold on to except the bogies. WARNING: Don't pull on the bogies as they will break away from the chassis. Fortunately we were able to remove the body without damage.

We are currently finalising our Custom Sound Project for this model for those who want sound which will be available in very soon and for the non sound user we have prepared some decoders to suit the mechanisms running quality to bring you the Pre-Programmed Plug and Go! range of decoders. All the programming is done, even the Loco Call-up ID of your choice so all you have to do is plug it in and away your go! See the "DCC decoders for Australian Locos" on our online page for more info.

We can offer a new lighting modification for the Auscision 46 Class.

As with most of our lighting modifications you will be able to operate all Marker Lights directionally or on/off individually and the Headlights operate on/off individually or directionally using your functions buttons. More information is available on our installation page.

Southern Rail VLocity Lighting

We have been receiving many enquiries from people who have purchased the LokPilot V4.0 Decoder, not from us, and find the interior lights don't operate.

To help out we now have information on how to active the interior lighting using the ESU LokPilot V4.0 on our Info & Help Tab at the top of this page. It explains how to map to functions buttons to active the interior lights as well as making changes to the headlight operation.

The VLocity is designed to only except ESU 21 Pin Decoders. Using any other brand of decoder will NOT operate the interior lights and possibly operate the other lights incorrectly. Be aware before making your decoder purchase.

15th January 2015

When time permits, we plan to upload videos of some of our sound projects installed in locos. Just finding that time is hard but it will be done

86 Class sound project is now available

48 Class sound project has had some updates for the new Trainorama

45 Class sound is being reworked and will be available later this month

38 Class new sound project is still in progress.

VLocity Decoders are in stock ready for purchase.

Development of custom speaker enclosures for our new range of Dynamic Speakers to suit our Aussie Locos is progressing with hopefully some samples arriving soon.

21st December 2014

Wishing all our customers and regular visitors to our site a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

We would like to thank all our customers for allowing us to work on your trains throughout the year bringing them to life with sound and lights.

In 2015, we plan to bring some exciting ideas we have been working on recently to our installations. Mainly with our sound projects and they way the sound is delivered through the speakers. Stay tuned throughout the year for more developments.

Lighting modifications are also being developed with 2015 looking to be a big year of models being released.

Not into sound and lights, don't worry we can still help you with your DCC installations.

It has been a busy year so we will be taking a break during the festive season. We will be closed from 24th December until 7th January.

1st December 2014

With Christmas soon upon us and Santa coming to fill our stockings with train goodies the first of our presents has arrived.

The Auscision 8619

What another terrific product from the boys at Auscision.

It even has electrical pick-up Pantographs. One track rail pick-up and both pantos pick-up for the few out there that have working overhead wires on their layout.

We are currently working on a sound project for those who want sound which will be available in January 2015 and for the non sound user we have prepared some decoders to suit the mechanisms running quality to bring you the Pre-Programmed Plug and Go! range of decoders. All the programming is done, even the Loco Call-up ID of your choice so all you have to do is plug it in and away your go! See the "DCC decoders for Australian Locos" on our online page for more info.

We can offer a new lighting modification for the Auscision 86 Class.

As with most of our lighting modifications you will be able to operate all Marker Lights directionally, on/off individually Headlights/Number Board and the Ditch Light operate on/off individually using your functions buttons. Or we can program the lighting to suit your operating requirements. More information will be available soon on our installation page.

It looks as though our Ultimate 12 Function Lighting Modification could possibly be done for those wanting prototypical light operation but will require more work compared to the Standard Lighting Modification mentioned above. The headlight boards will require modifications and a rewire to separate the lights to operate individually in DCC. We also add cab lights to show off the detail in the cab and the crew. More information will be available soon on our installation page.

20th November 2014

We have been busy over the last few months trying to keep up with installations and at the same time work on some new sound projects as well as going back over some previous projects to improve them.

New improvements and sounds to older projects include:

Xplorer/Endeavour

AN Class

36 Class Steam

73 Class

81/G/BL

A new 38 Class steam project is currently in the works with authentic sounds. We will also be working on a new speaker setup to help bring the sounds to life.

At the end of September we had an opportunity to test the soon to be released Trainorama 48 Class. We installed an ESU sound decoder and gave it a good running test to make sure everything works in DCC. The model ran smoothly, as expected from Trainorama, and sounded awesome. The wait is nearly over for it's release. While in our possession we looked at the possibilities of our usual light modifications and we may have something for those out there.

Also a few new items have been added to our online store for those DIY installers. We have received some more new items which will be added soon.

Powerline 48 Class (2012 Release)

We have recently received several Powerline 48 Class Locomotives from their 2012 release, for sound installations, with an issue of the white marker lights not working on the following models 4803, 4865, 4894 with single maker lights. I find it had to believe that this problem has not surfaced early than this but like myself I never really notice until now. Talking to several owners of these models they too did not realise. We are not sure if all these models in the production run have this problem so it might be worth it to check your model today.

From our research we have found the White Marker Lights do not shine through the lenses on the body. It appears to be a factory production fault with the light transfer lenses in the body of these model. Model 48165 is not affected as it has twin marker lights and this is where I think the problem originated. It seems the light transfer lenses of the three models in question contain the lenses from the model 48165 in which the location of the marker lights are different causing the light to shine from the LED into the body rather than through the maker light itself.

The light lenses can not be modified so at DCC Solutions have developed a modification to the light board to fix this problem and you can now have operating white and red marker lights.

In addition to that modification we can now also modify the light boards to separate the marker lights for individual control as we have done with many other models. You will have individual control of the front and rear white marker lights, front and rear red markers using 4 function buttons on your DCC throttle. The front and read headlights will operate directionally with the headlight button on your throttle. For example, you can run your loco and be able to operate 1) Front Headlight 2) Front White Markers 3) Front Red Markers 4) Rear Headlight 5) Rear White Markers 6) Rear Red Markers Lights using individual on/off function keys. With this upgrade you can operate the markers as prototypical of a 48 Class.

If you model does not have working white marker lights or you wish to have your marker lights operating individually then contact us for more information.

Issues with resetting and function mapping with the ESU LokSound Decoders using DecoderPro (JMRI)

A new test version of JMRI (DecoderPro 3) has been released with changes to the way it reads and displays information of the ESU Decoders. As reported back in January, the Function Map Tab would read and display incorrect information. This seems to be corrected in this latest test release.

The Function Tab is split into 4 Panes; Input Conditions Block, Physical Outputs, Logical Outputs and Sound Slots.

To remap a function select a function key you would like to assign and a mapping row in the Input Conditions Block. Tick the box labelled "ON" for the function you have selected in your select mapping row. Scroll along your selected mapping row and tick a box in the Physical Outputs, Logical Outputs or a Sound Slot that you would like your select function key to operate. The Sound Slots are not named with sounds so if we have installed a decoder for you, contact us for a list.

If resetting the decoder and you receive this message;

“Reset All CVs. WARNING: May render sounds inoperable! Not recommended.”

Select “OK” as all decoders programmed by DCC Solutions will not be affected and will be reset to the factory defaults originally programmed during your decoder installation. All changes made by the user will be lost so it is advisable to record or save your personal changes.

Austrains 81/BL/G Class Locomotives Coming Release

We have recently received one of Austrains G Class Series 2/ G 512 Freight Australia Diesel Locomotives and are currently working on the best possible sound installation for this latest run. I have been told the inside setup will be the similar for the 81/BL. The model has working headlights, number boards, marker lights and ditch lights. Looking at the wiring in detail it appears will be able to separate some of the lighting for our Standard Sound Installation and Light Modification and also provide our Ultimate Light Modification and Sound Installation as done to the 82 Class: Upgrade to 12 Function Lighting Outputs for the real life operation of all the lights on the locomotive. Also available is the addition of front and rear cab lights. How impressive would that be to have your locomotive running around the layout with every possible lighting combination available for prototypical operation. And to complete the real life operating experience we can add some high quality crew figures in the cab.

As mentioned previously we are working on a sound file to suit this model. Once completed, information will be added to our installation page.

For those not interested in sound we can fit a non sound decoder and provide some lighting modifications.

Stay tuned for more info.

Issues with resetting and function mapping with the ESU LokSound Decoders using DecoderPro (JMRI)

Here at DCC Solutions we have discovered some issues when using the current Production Version 3.6 of DecoderPro (JMRI) with resetting the decoder and function mapping.

Should the decoder require a factory reset due to an issue with the decoder or you have made incorrect changes or not satisfied with the changes simply enter the value 8 in CV 8 then disable and reapply the power to activate the reset or selecting the decoder reset option in DecoderPro

If using the latest version of JMRI Decoder Pro software V3.6 for programming CV changes to the decoder and selecting a factory reset you will receive the following message;

Also, the Function Map tab will display incorrect information when read from the decoder. The function mapping displayed in DecoderPro is not the actual function mapping that is programmed into the decoder.

Be aware of this if making function changes to the decoder. Refer to the Installation Information sheet supplied with your decoder installation by DCC Solutions for the correct function map default setup.

I have also noticed some incorrect information read by DecoderPro for motor and speed table CVs.

Please be aware of this if making any changes and if problems occur from your changes, simply reset the decoder to return to the defaults programmed during your installation.

Test version 3.7.1 was made available on January 16, 2014 for testing so hopefully these bugs maybe fixed for the next production version.

We are yet to test this version but will soon and will report back with any updates.
